At TheRain, you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data. This page explains what data we hold, what can be deleted, how to request deletion, and what happens after your request.
TheRain is committed to respecting your privacy and data rights. In accordance with applicable data protection laws in Cameroon and international best practices, you have the right to request the deletion of your personal data from our systems.
This Data Deletion Policy applies to all TheRain users including Riders, Drivers, Parents, Fleet Managers, and Guest users.
You may request deletion of your personal data at any time. TheRain will process your request within 30 days of receipt. Some data may be retained for legal, safety, or operational reasons as outlined in this policy.
Depending on how you use TheRain, we may hold the following types of personal data:

When your deletion request is approved, your TheRain account will be permanently deactivated and all associated personal data will be removed from our active systems within 30 days.
Certain data must be retained by TheRain for legal, safety, financial, or operational reasons even after a deletion request:

Where full deletion is not immediately possible due to legal requirements, TheRain will anonymize your data — removing all personally identifiable information — so it can no longer be linked to you as an individual.
You can request deletion of your data through any of the following methods:

TheRain commits to processing all data deletion requests within 30 days of receipt. Complex requests involving multiple data types or legal holds may take the full 30 days. You will be kept informed throughout the process.
Once your data deletion request is processed:
Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once deleted, your account, ride history, wallet balance, and all associated data cannot be recovered. If you have a wallet balance, please withdraw it before submitting a deletion request.
Yes. After your data has been deleted, you may create a new TheRain account using the same or different phone number and email address. However, your previous ride history, wallet balance, and driver ratings will not be recoverable.
Driver accounts cannot be deleted while there are pending rides, unresolved disputes, or outstanding earnings. All pending matters must be resolved before deletion can proceed. Driver verification documents may be retained for up to 3 years after account deletion for legal compliance.
Fleet Manager accounts cannot be deleted while there are active vehicles or drivers assigned to the fleet. All fleet vehicles must be deregistered and all driver assignments removed before deletion can proceed.
When a parent account is deleted, all associated children's profiles and school transport subscriptions will also be deleted. Active subscriptions will be cancelled and any unused subscription balance will be refunded.
Guest user data (name, phone, ride details) is automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity. To request immediate deletion, contact us with your phone number and the date of your guest booking.
