Privacy Policy — Rider
TheRain is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data when you use our rider services in Cameroon.
Information We Collect
  • Full name, phone number, and email address during registration
  • Real-time GPS location during active rides and bookings
  • Payment information (MTN MOMO, Orange Money, Visa card details)
  • Ride history, ratings, and feedback submitted
  • Device information, IP address, and app usage data
  • Emergency contact information provided by the rider
How We Use Your Information
  • To match you with the nearest available verified driver
  • To process payments and send receipts via SMS or email
  • To provide real-time ride tracking and safety features
  • To improve our services through analytics and feedback
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and safety violations
Guest Rider Privacy
Guest riders who book without an account are assigned a temporary GUEST_ID. Their ride data is stored temporarily and can be recovered if they create an account later. Guest data is automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity.
Data Sharing
TheRain does not sell your personal data to third parties. We may share limited data with:
  • Assigned drivers (name, pickup location, and contact number only)
  • Payment processors for transaction verification
  • Law enforcement authorities when legally required
  • Emergency services during SOS activations
Terms of Service — Rider
By using TheRain rider application, you agree to these Terms of Service. These terms govern your use of our ride-hailing, delivery, and school transport services in Cameroon.
Eligibility
  • You must be at least 16 years old to use TheRain services
  • You must provide accurate and truthful registration information
  • One account per person — duplicate accounts are prohibited
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
Prohibited Conduct
  • Providing false information during booking or registration
  • Harassing, threatening, or abusing drivers or other users
  • Attempting to manipulate GPS, fares, or payment systems
  • Using TheRain for illegal activities or transporting prohibited items
  • Creating multiple accounts to bypass suspensions or restrictions
  • Damaging TheRain vehicles or property

Account Suspension
Suspension Notice
TheRain reserves the right to suspend or permanently deactivate accounts that violate these terms. Suspended users will see a notification with the reason and an option to submit an appeal through the Trust & Safety Center.
CCTV Policy — Rider
All TheRain vehicles are equipped with interior and exterior CCTV cameras for the safety of both riders and drivers. By using TheRain services, you consent to being recorded during your ride.

  • Interior video footage of the vehicle cabin during rides
  • Exterior footage of the vehicle surroundings and road
  • GPS location data synchronized with video timestamps
  • Audio may be recorded in compliance with Cameroonian law

Private Storage
All CCTV footage is stored on TheRain's private secure servers — never on public cloud storage. Footage is encrypted and access is strictly controlled. Only authorized TheRain security personnel and law enforcement (with proper legal authority) can access recordings.

SOS Emergency System
How SOS Works
Press and hold the SOS button for 3 seconds to activate emergency assistance. Your live GPS location is immediately sent to TheRain's Emergency Command Center. Admins can contact police, send voice messages, and monitor your location in real-time. A silent SOS mode is also available for discreet activation.
Trust Score System
Every rider has a Trust Score that reflects their behavior on the platform. A low trust score may result in service restrictions.

Data Usage Policy — Rider

Data Security

By creating a TheRain account or using our services as a guest, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to all rider policies outlined above. These policies are effective as of June 2026.

Privacy Policy — Driver
As a TheRain driver, you share sensitive personal and vehicle information with us. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data throughout your partnership with TheRain.

  • National ID images and facial verification data
  • Driver's license information (OCR scanned)
  • Vehicle information: model, plate number, VIN, insurance documents
  • Vehicle photos (front, rear, left, right, interior)
  • Real-time GPS location during active duty
  • Earnings, ride history, and performance metrics
  • Emergency contact information
Identity Verification Data
Your National ID, selfie, and facial matching data are used exclusively for identity verification purposes. This data is processed by our AI verification system and stored securely. It is never shared with third parties except when required by law enforcement.
Terms of Service — Driver
These terms govern your relationship with TheRain as an independent driver partner. By registering and operating as a TheRain driver, you agree to these terms in full.
Driver Registration Requirements
  • Valid National ID (not expired)
  • Valid driver's license for the vehicle category
  • Vehicle insurance document (current and valid)
  • Vehicle must pass TheRain quality inspection
  • Successful AI verification and manual admin review
  • OTP activation after approval
Driver Operational Obligations
  • Maintain a clean, roadworthy, and properly branded vehicle
  • Follow all traffic laws and TheRain operational guidelines
  • Treat all riders with respect and professionalism
  • Maintain CCTV equipment in working condition
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or safety concerns immediately
  • Keep license, insurance, and vehicle documents up to date
Prohibited Driver Conduct
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Sharing account credentials with other drivers
  • Tampering with or disabling CCTV equipment
  • Soliciting cash payments outside the app
  • GPS manipulation or route fraud
  • Harassment or inappropriate behavior towards riders

CCTV Monitoring Terms — Driver
As a TheRain driver, your vehicle must be equipped with approved CCTV devices. By accepting these terms, you consent to continuous monitoring of your vehicle during active duty.

CCTV Requirements
  • Device must support LTE/4G connectivity
  • GPS tracking must be active during all rides
  • Both interior and exterior cameras must be functional
  • Emergency upload capability must be enabled
  • Device must be connected to TheRain secure gateway
CCTV Tampering Warning
Tampering with, disabling, or obstructing CCTV equipment is a serious violation that will result in immediate account suspension and potential legal action. TheRain monitors CCTV connection status in real-time.

Driver SOS System
SOS Activation
Press the SOS button in the driver app to immediately alert TheRain's Emergency Command Center. Your live GPS location is displayed on the admin dashboard. Admins can send messages, voice recordings, contact police, and monitor your route in real-time. A silent SOS mode is available for discreet activation when a passenger should not detect the emergency.

Vehicle Maintenance Requirements
  • Vehicle must be clean and presentable at all times
  • Regular maintenance checks as per manufacturer schedule

Fraud Prevention Policy — Driver
TheRain's AI fraud detection system continuously monitors driver activity to ensure platform integrity. Drivers found engaging in fraudulent activities face immediate consequences.

Registration Security
Failed Verification Policy
5 failed verification attempts will result in a temporary 24-hour registration suspension. TheRain tracks IP addresses, device fingerprints, and registration logs to prevent fraudulent registrations. Drivers attempting to register with fake IDs or duplicate accounts will be permanently banned.

By registering as a TheRain driver, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to all driver policies. Violation of these policies may result in account suspension, earnings withholding, or legal action.

As a Fleet Manager on TheRain, you have access to sensitive operational data for your fleet. This policy outlines how your data and your fleet's data is collected, used, and protected.

These terms govern the relationship between TheRain and Fleet Managers operating on our platform. Fleet Managers are responsible for their vehicles, assigned drivers, and overall fleet compliance.

  • Ensure all fleet vehicles meet TheRain quality and safety standards
  • Verify that all assigned drivers are properly registered and approved
  • Maintain valid insurance for all fleet vehicles
  • Ensure CCTV equipment is installed and operational in all vehicles
  • Monitor driver performance and address complaints promptly
  • Maintain accurate vehicle and driver records at all times

Fleet Managers have access to comprehensive analytics through the TheRain Fleet Dashboard including:
  • Real-time vehicle locations and status
  • Driver performance metrics and trust scores
  • Fleet earnings breakdown and financial reports
  • Maintenance alerts and vehicle health reports
  • CCTV connection status for all fleet vehicles

Fleet Managers are responsible for ensuring all fleet vehicles are equipped with TheRain-approved CCTV systems. This policy outlines your obligations and access rights regarding fleet surveillance.

Driver Safety Monitoring
Fleet Manager Obligations
Fleet Managers must actively monitor driver trust scores and performance metrics. Drivers with trust scores below 60 must be reviewed and retrained. Drivers with scores below 40 must be temporarily suspended from the fleet pending investigation.
Fraud Prevention Policy — Fleet Manager
Fleet Managers are held to the highest standards of integrity on the TheRain platform. Any fraudulent activity within a fleet is the responsibility of the Fleet Manager.
